Bamboo Backed Hickory Flatbow with Jatoba Accents
« on: December 04, 2011, 10:38:00 AM »
BBH flatbow with jatoba riser accents and tip overlays. Pictures below and more to come. Was made for a customer, need a bit more work on the tiller then (thought it was done but changed my mind) photos of braced, full draw and the tips will be coming.

Bow is 62" and headed for 50-55# @28". 1 7/8" wide at fades with slightly convex taper to the tips which are 1/2" wide. Found a really nice hickory board with high percentage heartwood. Grain was symmetrical or nearly symmetrical around the center of the bow so it allowed the striped effect you see on the belly of the limbs. This one is going out to a customer who I think will be very pleased, along with a flemish twist string of 8125. I expect this one to be fast. Perry reflexed 1" during glue up. Retained nearly all of it before being shot in. I anticipate 1" or so of resting string follow. and maybe 2" just unbraced string follow once done.

Hope everyone here likes it. This is going to be hard to send away!

That is a really nice looking bow. Love the heart wood and the accents.
