I've been building some ELB bows and love the way these things look and shoot. This osage is 70" NTN and 50@28" beeswax finish. It is incredibly "forgiving" like a heavy target recurve. Moderate speed but loves a heavy (750 grn) arrow.

 

 

 

I had one of these and some young fellow at MOJam talked me out of it. This one is spoken for but the next one I'm keeping. They remind me of the quote about the new moon from Witchery of Archery.

Great job Shaun!!!!!  One question, was the back of the bow crowned naturally, or on purpose?  The reason for the question is that I have an osage limb that I just removed the sap wood from an is only about 4" in diameter, and was thinking of doing something similar......Dan

Outstanding tiller...love the elegance of this bow.  Bullet proof dimensions, should provide years of excellent service.  Winter is good time to spend time in the shop developing these works of art!  Thanks for the excellent pics and inspiration!

Dan, the back was flat and still is mostly, just radius on the edges and some funny grain patterns and tears at the top edge that needed rounding. The bow is about 7/8 wide in the handle and rounding edges makes the whole thing look rounded. I made another ELB from a yew trunk that was about 4" in diameter quartered with the band saw, back nearly flat - about 1 1/8 wide in the handle.
