1/4" riser pins?

Maybe I just over think things, but while making my drilling jig for a takedown recurve, I realized that you drill a 1/4" line up hole and put a 1/4" pin in the riser. I would think you would need some press on the pin, for a good fit, or do you glue it in. As I said, I tend to over think things  :D  . Don

I press my pins into the riser with a hammer-they do fit tight but I also use a drop or two of super glue to glue them in.

I put a thin layer of epoxy on the pin and tap it home with a hammer.  Not too hard, just enough to seat it and let the epoxy do it's thing.

Back when I was making TDs more often, I started grinding a few notches in the half that fits in the riser and epoxying them in. Had a few pull out in the limb before that, not after.

Worst part was holding the slick bugger to grind on it!

Thanks guys. Kenny, that was what I was thinking. I think I'll make a pin holder, so I can grind a couple of rings on the pins, before I epoxy. Don

After I drill the limb I clamp the 1/4 bit in vise grips and work on the limb hole a bit to get a little looser fit. Tap the pin in the riser with a hammer.Good to go.

Or one could buy a couple of feet of 1/4" stainless steel rods and cut in suitable lenghts. Before cutting make a couple of file marks with a triangular file and smooth the end that will be visible, then epoxy the pins into the riser. Should be enough steel for a few bows. Bue--.

I do as Crooked Stick I drill the limbs with a G size drill bit forgot how much over 1/4" it is.  Used to have the pin pull out on occasion think it was probably due to change in humidity. I also use epoxy on the pins.
