Self nocked arrows

Ho do you seal self nocked arrows?  I tried to dip the arrows but you get a build up on the end on the nock?

I am using the raptor arrow sealer.  Any suggestions?

I get the same build up. The first few times you nock the arrow that build up will break away or compress down. You can roll up some 220 grit and GENTLY work it out of the nock.

Has anyone tried letting the shafts drain with the point down to avoid the build up?

I don't dip shafts myself, never did. I use either a super glue finish or brush on finish of polyurethane. But you could finish just the nock end with super glue and then dip up to that I suppose.

I usually use a wood oil and this is not an issue, I leave the shafts full lenght 32 inches so I have a dry section to grip. If I dip them in laquer I usually do it in two stages. I dip the nock end first, say about 8 inches and whack them through the air a couple of times so the ecsess laquer flies off. Then I set them to dry with the point end down in a board with predrilled holes. Takes a little longer, but I usually makes 40-50 at a time. Bue--.

Super glue on nocks and hand rubbed finish on the rest of the shaft. I usually use Tru-Oil for shafts but sometimes use pitch varnish on primitive shafts.

I dip my shafts before I cut the nocks and like has been said then apply Cyanoacrylate to the nock area. One thing I like about this is it hardens the nock, the only one I have broken is one that was robinhooded. Even squirrel hunting when they have bounced wildly off everything, I have never broke one or had one split. I have sinew wrapped below the nock of my deer arrows but it is purely cosmetic.

I used watered down TBIII and just brushed it on so no dip and no shine.

Q tip and super glue gel seem to work nicely.
