i have eaten lots of pidgeon and dove- they are first class table fare. lots of dark breast meat.
and their diet consists mainly of grains and cereals-
say, anybody ever seen what lobster, crayfish an' crabs eat?
i'll tell you a little story.
the locals on the east coast of africa, would catch small crayfish in the shallow tidal rockpools- grow them up, then sell them on the side of the road- they were the hugest sweetest, most succulent tasting crayfish ever.
how did they grow 'em so big- well they would throw them in their outhouses- that they had dug just on the tidal zone.
fresh salt water seepage, lotsa food.
CRAYFISH FEEDLOT!!!!
one day maybe i can tell you about all that beautiful beef that we consume- i have spent a lot of time working in cattle feedlots.- anyway i digress.
i geuss we grew up in africa eating all sorts of bizarre table fare!!!
i would eat those crays anyday before the beef- and most certianally a wild grown pidgeon would be my favourite.
awesome shot!!!.
