Source for American Elm Lams?
« on: February 09, 2012, 08:19:00 PM »
I've seen some great looking bows from Northern Mist using American elm.  Are there any sources where I can find laminations or veneers of this wood.  I haven't found any.

Thanks,

Eric

Kenny McKenzie from Kennys custom archery has elm lams and veneers ground to your specs.  Great guy to deal with also.  Google "kennys custom archery"

Eric

Eric, no American elm, unless thats pi$$ elm! LOL

I don't think I even have that pc anymore, but if you find a chunk and need some lams made from it, give me a yell!
Stay sharp, Kenny.

Why?

Well...I've seen some American Elm that has some great character.  Some of the Northern Mist almost look like it's snakeskin.  Cool look.  I'll try to find a good link to one of these bows.

I am finding that it is soft wood.  It's probably only suitable as thin veneers.
