Performax 1020 drumsander problem$#@$%
« on: March 02, 2012, 07:23:00 PM »
My drum sander broke and the part is $290.00.
The bolt that raises the drum threads thru what is called the arm and it stripped out. I looked up the part online and it says 290 for the arm.
I dont think so. I am going to see it I can get a machinist to fix it. Anyone have any input or have this happen.

try typing the part number on Goggle search to see if anyone offers the same part for less?

Let me know how your quest turns out, my 16-32 did the same thing.  It seems like a pretty rickity system to move the entire drum up and down.

Drum sander fixed. I sent pm's to those who asked for help.
What we did. I a machinist fix mine, he made a threaded bushing our of oil imprgnated bronze threaded inside and out, he built up the aluminum on the tang that the bolt goes thru and then drilled and tapped to fit this bushing, then put a set screw to hold the bushing in place. Works like a champ.
