Another selfbow almost done
« on: April 06, 2012, 09:48:00 PM »
This bow was roughed out when I arrived at Ojam. It is from a stave bought last year. It came out much lighter than I wanted. Didn't get the short string on soon enough. Very disapointing.

I piked it 2" overall and got the weight up some but it was still not to my liking. I was tired and put it up for the weekend.

I pulled it back out today and looked it over. Didnt have much to lose so I piked it again. Some more tillering and narrowing of the tips and now it is 50lbs at 28" and shoots even better than the last one. Just goes to show you, there still might be hope on bows that don't seem worth finishing.

Still have some stiffness in both limbs it seems.

This bow groups the same cedars well too. Note the center arrow. Nock is broken.

Thank you George! I was thinking that it was a little stiff in the right limb. Funny how they play tricks on your eyes. It is quickly becoming one of my favorites.

Sharp bow.  Looks like a shooter.
