spray gun and finish

I am interested in finishing a few bows.. What are the better products to use and what sort of spray gun would be best ??  Sure would appreciate any info..

I have a Finex FX1000 made by Sharp. Real nice little gun, sells for around $140.00. Thunderbird is a great finish, polyurathane sprays nice too, fuller plast has been used by some guys.

If you have a compressor, you could use a cheap, little touch-up gun. I've bought them at Sears for around $60, but found them even cheaper(Buffalo Tools) at Trader Horn for about $40 and they work equally well.

I've used all kinds of finishes and I'd say the best two I've used are Fullerplast and Thunderbird. Between them, I prefer Thunderbird.

I use thunderbird epoxy out of a $10 touch up gun from Harbor Freight, works great.

Yeah look at harbor Freight they have some decent spray guns for under $20

I too would be in favor of a finish-along if someone is willing to do it.  I've just used Helmsman and Deft for my bows so far.  Looking to upgrade to T-Bird, but I literally know nothing about spraying.

Go ahead and get the slow drying Lacquer thinner with the Thunderbird.  Regular stuff dries so fast it leaves an orange peel effect.  (Little dimples and wrinkles)

Be careful with all these conversion varnishes, you don't want that stuff hardening in your lungs.  If you can smell it, it's in your lungs.

If you aren't familiar with compressors and spray guns look up "Preval" Their spray system comes with a compressed air sprayer and bottle to put the Thunderbird in.  It's almost as easy as using a spray can.  Costs $5-$9 dollars delivered.  One sprayer will do 3-4 bows.
