A new Journey (plains style horn bow)
« on: May 17, 2012, 11:10:00 PM »
So after much reading and ponder and time on the phone with James Parker my interest in horn bows is taking a leap of action.

The plan is an authentic replica of a plains style composite horn bow.

Gonna work on getting things ready this weekend and glue the horn to an osage core.

This will be a lengthy project as I do not want to get in a hurry and will be building other bows as usual.

I'll get some pics of the horn and core posted up this weekend.

Got both copy's of Jim Hamm's books today and been doing some reading. This is gonna a lengthy project but it will be fun and a learning experience.

Most of my info I am gaining through James Parker whom I have had the pleasure of becoming good friends with.

Pat Brennan introduced me to him about a year ago and that has been a tremendous blessing in my bow building journey.

I have been very fortunate in the friends I have made through TG and PA.

James is a tremendous bowyer and a great guy to boot...you're lucky to have his knowledge to tap into  :)

4est Ol' James don't get all the credit. If I recall your world class buildalong is what got me started building bows.

I do owe alot to the bowyer community between here and PA. I'd would be alot farther behind than I am in my bowbuilding if it were not for the generosity here for sure.
