This may be a silly question but the leather on my shelf is coming off and I want to glue it back on. Since I am not into building yet is there a "household" glue that will work for re-attaching it?

I have used contact cement and TB glues to attack a leather strike plate. Contact cement is the most common glue.

What Pat B says. I use the fuzzy part of velcro as an arrow pass/strike plate. Its self-adhesive.

Barge cement is real good contact cement. That is usually what I use or just household contact cement like Pat

Yep, contact cement.
Don't use rubber cement.  It's not the same thing and won't hold (Speaking from personal experience.)

Suoerglue works well for leather to wood also. I use that for the strike plate and use a waterproof wood glue for the handle covering. Jawge
