Griffin Finish

Does anyone know what finish John McCullough uses on his Griffin bows?  I'd like to refinish one and would like to use the same finish, if I can.  Otherwise, I may end up using Tru-Oil.  I've had great results with 30 or 40 coats on gunstocks.
