Recruve Riser question
« on: July 15, 2012, 04:20:00 PM »
I just bought a Samick Sage. (new to trad)  I have a Howatt hunter that REALLY fits my hand and I shoot it well.  Question: can I work the grip down on the Samick to make it fit better???
If so, how would you recommend doing it?  I have some basic tools, files and alot of sanding expereince.  The Samick is a 50# and the Hunter is 45#  Want to use the Samick for hunting this year.  All input is appreciated. Thanks

I would use a rasp to reshape the riser then sand and refinish the area.

Yes you can re-work the grip.  It's really pretty simple.  Break out a rasp and and shape it to your liking; sand it good; and put on some finish such as polyurathane.  Just don't get in a hurry and make it so skinny that it would compromise the structural integrity of the bow.
