Buliding the "gift" bow.........round 2
« on: September 03, 2012, 07:02:00 PM »
Building a suprise gift bow for a huntin buddy 62"NTN R/D longbow. Built the riser, cut the lams and ground the tapers total stack .375.
Got the taper rate right but forgot to add  the .090 glass to the stack. 62" NTN so I cut the glass and lams 60" did the glue up and didn't notice that mistake either. Well......put a string on the monster this morning..... nuff said there. Cut another set of lams and will do another glue-up in the morning. Gonna check everything twice this time. Dove hunt with the wife and shot a limit of doves. life is good

You know, when you build a bow for yourself everything goes perfect.  When you build a bow for someone else, nothing goes right.  That's been my experience.

Ha I'll agree with jsweka on that one.  I'd like to see some pics when you get it all worked out.

I usually do good until I get in a hurry and do things from memory LOL. Seems I always have one or two more projects I am thinking about when I am building a bow. I am gluing up two bows in the morning so I better stay alert.  Will post pic when done

The second bow went off without a hitch and I was able to salvage the glass and riser from the first disaster to make 52" 30lb bow for another friend's son.
