When is a good time to harvest black or honey locust for a stave? Property has several, along with bois'd arc also.

Also approximate size?

Honey locust is a white wood so ideally you want to harvest it during the growing season so you can peel the bark to expose the bows back. Chances are it is too late for that this year. I prefer to harvest locust like osage when the sap is down. With both osage and black locust you want to remove the bark and sapwood and chase a back ring from the heartwood.
All that being said, bow wood can be cut anytime it is convenient. d;^)

Thanks. There are several trees on the property ranging from simple 6-8" trees up to 16" trunks.
