hello, and start to bowmaking
« on: September 25, 2012, 08:09:00 PM »
Hi all, been watching a long time.  Finally decided to start making bows.  I built my oven, and am finishing my form this week.  Looking forward to starting making bows.

Jump right in, Jim. I lurked around for a while before joining in, also. You'll learn a ton of stuff from all these guys.

Glad to see a newbie give it a try. I am still waiting for someones first bow to turn out uglier than my first one did.

Greg, I certainly have you beat on the ugliest first bow.  When I first started I did not know about trad gang, or anyone else that made their own for that matter....I tried to hand taper the lams with my handheld belt sander by eye....fairly unprecise to say the least.

Best of luck to you.  I would just search for build along on the bench and you can learn a lot.
