What nocking point?
« on: February 26, 2008, 04:43:00 AM »
I see over in the UK most archers use serving string to make a nock point but seems like in the us the use the crimp-ons.
Why and what would the advantage be for either?
Black Douglas 68#
Wing Gull 60#
Hoyt Havoc 80#
Coupla other wheelies.
If ya gonna be stupid, you better be tough!

Having used both the only advantage I see to the crimp ons is convenience in installation. I have learned to despise the crimp on nocks-I have several tabs with wear grooves or missing hair from the accursed brass nocking point indicators. Tied on NPIs take a bit more time to install but are so superior that I  believe everyone would be well served(pun intended) to try them.

I use a crimp on to find the correct spot then remove it and use BCY's nock tying thread tied above and below the nock.

Dental floss is much easier on your tab or glove.

I use the serving or strands off old strings and tie mine one, easy on gloves, holds up better than floss,IMHO, and is adjustable.
