Wedge question

well I took my 2nd one piece out of the box and got it tillered today, still a ways to go to finish. but while working on it I started contemplating my next build. I am going to build a new form and try a 3 piece long bow, and thought of some questions. first how do you determine wedge size,(length, taper, thickness)
2nd, when you air up the form, how do you keep the wedge from sliding out?
i am sure there will be more questions coming, I really appreciate everyone's help, learning from others mistakes is so much easier, just wish I would have figured that out 30 years ago.

On my longbow wedges they start 3/8" thick. On bows up to 62" ntn I'll use a 8 1/2" wedge- on the longer ones I use a 10 1/2" wedge. My wedges are flat on one side and taper to zero -one inch in on the other side. To hold them in place during glue up I have a stop at the end of the form. Hope this helps.
