50's style recurve?
« on: February 26, 2008, 11:09:00 AM »
Well, I'm thinking real strong about the Whisperstik MOJO, or Kota Kill-um...MAybe even on of Kohannah's bows.

But I'm still looking for suggestions for this style of custom bowyer.  Also wanna keep the price below 500.00 max. Suggestions???

I recently got a Whisperstik Mojostik from JD Lund and can't praise the bow and bowyer enough. He's a sponser here and is having a 15% off sale on his in stock bows which will put you below your spending limit.
Do not follow where the path may lead.  Go, instead, where there is no path and leave a trail.

1/4away, yeah, I know! I've been in touch with JD thru email recently, but just haven't finalized my pick.how do you find the grip with that swell?

BTW, doesn't nesecarily HAVE to be recurve. Nice longbows are great too!

The Fox Breed is a very nice 50's style recurve.  I shot one at Kalamazoo and it is one of the smoothest, quietest recurves I have shot.  The new one should be here in April.

I really like the grip. It allows for consistent hand placement each and every time I pick up the bow.

I will second the Whisperstik...

I just got a 60" Mojo Stik, and it is a very nicely finished bow...

Quick and quiet as well...

For what it's worth, I own, and have shot bows that are much more expensive than my Kohannah Kurve, and right now my Kurve is still my go to bow. Hard to beat it for smoothness of draw, and price.   B-

Why not buy an actual 1950's used recurve?  There are a lot of them out there and the price is certainly in your limits for most of them excepting the highly collectable/rare models. Just becuase they are old don't mean you can't shoot them.
Dave

I've come to believe that the keys to shooting well for me are good form, trusting the bow to do all the work, and having the confidence in the bow and myself to remain motionless and relaxed at release until the arrow hits the mark.

I have two Kohannahs, two AS Kadiaks, and a little bighorn. I like 'em all!
Is it too late to be what I could have been?

Great Northern Ghost.  New, they're more than $500, but there's a nice used one on this site right now for less than that.

In Classifieds? I'll go look! Thanks.

Original 50's style bows? I know they can still be shot, if cared for...Guess I was thinking on something a little more modern, but hey if anybody has something, let me know.

Enjoyed my Kota Kill-um more than any other bow I've owned by a long shot.
