In this archery world where pantograph and mass production are ever more operating an "old craftsman" need to get a small gift from himself to cheer !
This is my personal flatbow, the Ishi "Big Five" made the last summer.
As you know very well the "Big Five" is a famous trophy for an African dangerous big game hunters: lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant.
In my case, this name has nothing to do with hunting but is dedicated to the five inhabited continents that have provided various materials to made this bow.
Europe: red deer for tips and roe deer for the finish in the grip sewing. (italian animals)
America: red cedar and maple for the limbs laminations.
Asia: Macassar Ebony for the riser.
Africa: python leather for the limbs backing.
Oceania: Silky Oak for overlays up and under the grip belly.
Thanks in advance for sharing.
