Working limb length?
« on: October 29, 2012, 07:49:00 PM »
On a glass R/D Longbow, 60"ntn, with no power lams or tip wedges, How long would you make the riser vs. limbs?

I have built the form, and initially intended on a short riser and long limbs. But now, as I start mocking the layup, I am strongly considering a longer riser.

So what say the TradGang? What is your preference and why?

Thanks,

Steve

In Binghams 68" RD longbow the risers are 18" fade to fade. In doing the math for a similar bow 60" long I see a riser 15.88 inches long which makes it is a little over 26% of the total length.

It would be a scaled down version of the longer bow.

that would be my limited input based on my experience.  Good luck

I also have very limited experience, but just built a Bingham hybrid, shortened it to 60 inches, it has an 18 inch riser, I did a force draw curve and it does not stack out to 28 inches, shoots very good with little noticeable hand shock.
