Turkeys Are Coming??
« on: February 26, 2008, 12:34:00 PM »
Would like to have a thread were we could give tips and tricks for "big bird".
Things like setup, decoys, scouting.  Would be great to know what you guys are trying.
Lets hear it.
My best tip would be "patience".  And dont overcall.

I think you just started it.  :clapper:

Got me a Cabelas pop up blind that sets up in about 10 seconds, some decoys and won a couple real nice callers at the JLMBH. So I am set for this year to give almost a deer hunting push. Best part is my son who just his license will be with me.

Sometimes the best (non vocal) call is just scratching in the leaves

When you think you waited long enough, wait 15 more minutes.
A Gobbler yelp Spring or Fall is a long conversation.

The only sure thing is to scout before dark in early season (leaves off) to see where they are roosting and to set up near there in the morning.
