Post-straightening problem
« on: November 27, 2012, 10:39:00 AM »
My daughter says it is harder to draw the bow since I heat straightened it and finished it.

Is it usually a problem to do more tillering on a selfbow after straightening?

Straightened how so? Which way? If you took string follow out and put some reflex in then what you did was add poundage to the bow. Yes you can retiller n shed that few extra pounds off,it won't take too many scrapes so be careful.

No, not a problem. Use a scraper. Take some passes, string it up and let her draw it. Let her decide when she's ok with it. Jawge

Thanks, guys.

I hadn't considered involving her so closely at this point, but in hindsight, I can see the need if I want to keep her interest.
