Double shelf risers

Hi guys,

I'm hoping to cut a double shelf for a new riser that I'm making.
It will have a 1/4" phenolic running through as an I-beam.

How close (or far) to center do I cut it to be safe? And how wide should the shelves be, belly to back?
I was thinking of 1/2" overall shelf thickness (1/4" from center per shelf), but it seems scary to wield such a bow...

I hope I can find some answers before I lose my sanity contemplating!

I am interested too.  I want to build double shelf hill style.  I tried to get specs for the HHA Robinhood dual shelf bow but didn't get any results.

I have a dual shelf Goshawk from Chad Holm. He made it for me after I won the bid for a bow build on the St. Judes Auction. I just checked it and the center section just above the shelf is about 1/2". I do know that he also used a fiberglass "I" bean in the center.....hope this helps!

I see, I've been doing much research but none comes close to what I have in mind. I'm building a takedown riser base on a template I've come up with, using grey action wood with phenolic accent and I-beam. I was sketchy about 1/4" being sturdy enough.

Many thanks for that! Does the thinness of the section bother you? I'm not sure if phenolic or fiberglass is stronger though... Does it have any bushing for an arrow rest?

Just a shelf on both sides. Seems to shoot fine, so no real bother!

---phenolic would make me nervous-as an "I" beam--even more nervous with a shelf cut on both sides--G-10 is much stronger...good luck
