Think you can get that brother of yours to hike the hills with you? He's kind of deskbound these days.

Yep, my brother and I headed back to our old elk stomping grounds.  I have the bow I will shoot.  I have the arrows and broadheads I will shoot.  I have the clothes, boots, backpack, camping gear, calls etc......I will have to keep working out, but I have been for a while.  I know I could go today and be OK.  It will just be more fun if I am in better shape.

  What part of Wyoming are you headed to? We do all our hunting between Douglas & Casper area's.

Congrats Dave!!! Max points but no draw for me. Make sure to take lots of pics so you can share the hunt with us!
To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.

Dan,

Were you going for one of the limited draw areas or a General?  I think I only had one point.

Dave I applied for a limited draw area that only has a very few non resident tags available so it really is not that big of a surprise that I didn't draw. I am going to have to check with WY game and fish to see how many applicants applied for that unit this year that had max points so I can reassess whether I want to keep applying for that unit. Next stop Montana app, then CO.   Good luck on your hunt!

Max points and no tag for me too.  I applied for limited draw archery tag with low odds.  Not too surprised but the odds should just keep gettin better for us!

We hunt up in the Jackson area and have since the late 80s.  The only issue we occasionally run into is G&F moving a deer season into the best part of the archery elk season.  We are going to try a bit earlier this year as a result.

Backpacks, Bugling Bulls, Bows, Broadheads and my brother in the Hoback.  It doesn't get any better than that.  Back to the Treadclimber.

Hey Tom,
A few trips up the Bridle trail on the mountain is good for the elk hunting soul. Might be a little icy right now, though.
