need an osage stave
« on: March 07, 2013, 08:58:00 PM »
I know I know, im in the middle of a build along right now, but im already thinking about my next bow. I want to try a self bow again, but im tired of hickory and i haven't been able to find any locust. I really want to try osage, but theres none around here. I don't trust buying a stave on ****, because who knows what you will get, and i just don't have money for gambling. im inclined to trust you guys, so does anyone want to sell me an osage stave that would be suitable for a first timer?

I live in Northern VA (220  miles from NYC) and we have osage all over around here.  If you are up to coming down here to cut some I can set something up. I also have a pile of older staves to pic through if you want. IMHO don't waste your time with anything other than osage.......

Wow hey Michael Schwister, I may take you up on that offer! I am making a trip down to AL in April, will be headed right through VA anyway. Of course I'd be happy to pay you something for picking a stave out of your pile if you wish. $150 for a stave from Pine hollow longbows, while I'm sure it's top quality, seems like a lot to pay for a stick I will probably break!

If your going to be AL very long, you will have no problem finding Osage.
