Purpleheart question
« on: March 31, 2013, 12:59:00 PM »
Do you need to let the purple come back before you finish it or will it darken with finish on it?I have finished it while it was brown about 3 week's ago and it has just a hint of purple now.I have it laying in the sun if that makes any differance. Thanks guys--Joe

I recently did a riser accent with it and first I was worriing about the brown- then I took it to real sunlight (shops in the basement) and it was ok.
After finishing with 5 coats of automotive finish it became realy good I think.

Sunlight will help.  Heat is better.  I made a purpleheart bow not too long ago and when it came out of the hot box it was a brilliant purple color.  You said it's finished now, so I wouldn't cook it.  But maybe put it in the sun or under a heat lamp (carefully) and see what that does.
