How do you sharpen a 4 edge wood scraper?
I'm just not sure what kind of edge they're supposed to have.
Just flat and square?
I was contemplating running my accusharp down it..

One like this...

With a blade like this...

Thank you!

It would be best to google it . There are, several techniques.
I use a large file.
First clamp the scraper in,a,vise very straight.
Use the file to flatten the surface edge. Very flat and straight.
Use a burnisher, a round screw driver shaft will work.
Rub the shaft across the one edge with a very slight angle.not too much pressure. Yo'll be rolling a small edge along one side.repeat for other edges.
The web will have detailed instructions.

To use slightly bend the scraper with the ends away as you pull towards you.

The scraper your showing is totally different.
It is for paint scraping, but will work but is a little harder to figure the, edges.since it is used at a angle just a flat  and square edge will work.
Highly recommend getting the regular, cabinet, scraper for more controlled scraping.

I tried googling..
I didn't find a single page speaking about this type of scraper.

Sounds like a flat square edge, then give it a slight "hook"

I'm not sure if we're talking about the same kind of scraper though.
Your last line confuses me at least.

Maybe I'll just take some steel and make a regular one...

Thank you

We were typing at the same time....lol

Thank you again and I do believe if the one I have doesn't work well I'll take your advise and make one out of some scrap steel.

Thank you!

search for "Bahco Cabinet scraper".  For $10 or so, you will have a lifetime tool.  Woodcraft stores have them.
Take a kid hunting!

One of the Bahco scrapers has two long parallel straight edges, the ends are a half moon and reverse half moon.  This scraper works great for almost everything.  The reverse half moon can scrape out a tip overlay for a bamboo bow while the half moon scrapes the bamboo.  Makes a perfect fit while you can use the straight edge for anything.

I clamp them in the vise and use a metal file to flatten the edges.  Then burnish with a piece of steel for that fine curl on the edge.

I agree on the Bahco scrapers. I would also radius each corner. Before I started doing that I would put a deep gouge in the bow if I didn't stay straight down the limb. Tommy
