I have a Bear Commemorative Super Kodiak (60" and 55#) from 1998 and it has the very fine horizontal cracks in finish of both limbs where the main flex stress points are just above and below the riser that is common in newer Bears. I have heard folks say the older BEARS do not do this due to the older finish that was used. The SK shoots great and as smooth as my '64 Bear Tamerlane. If it was me I'd get both but as you said if you hafta choose one or tother you may want to consider the differences between the old and new.

By the way ACCURACY between the two models is probably more in the hands of the SHOOTER than the bows     :biglaugh:

I have all the new kodiaks and they all are different from one another , if you can find someone that has one and ask them to shoot it, what I have found is they all have there own character , the dyamond wood S-K has a heavy handle witch I like, the Grayling Green S-K very nice bow, but my 59 Kodiak ser# 70 show stopper , its on loan to a friend for the week so he can shoot it,he wants to buy my 59, told him good luck buy your own. 2 very different bows. The SK has much more mass in the riser and a bigger grip. the '59 has a SWEET little grip, and with the leather wrap it feels so very good.

It just depends on your preference in riser mass and grip. They both shoot AWESOME!
