First Osage Bow

Well I finally got my first Osage bow finished. I have been working on this stave, which I got from Ray Cindar 4 years ago, for a while. it had several wind checks and when I got to a clear ring it was going to be a light bow. So I decided to make a kids bow of it, on purpose. It is 55" ntn and I hit my goal of 20# @ 20". I tillered it out to 22" to allow for growth. I gave it to my daughter who helped me with the build without knowing it was for her. The look on her face when I told her it was her's was priceless.
It is a little strong for her at the moment but with some practice now the weather is turning, she should be doing fine with it by summer. It really flings the arrows out of it with just a little vibration. I have to put her finger guards on the string and find some string silences to take care of the slight hand shock.

Pretty nice, Tony. If you thinned down those tip over lays a bit and thinned the last 8 inches of the limb tips a bit, the hand shock will lessen and you won't lose much weight at all.

Thanks Roy, I might do that. Tiller seems to have shifted a little with final sanding and finishing so I may have to adjust that a little too. 2 birds with one stone.

Great job Tony. I made my daughter a glass bow and even though she doesn't shoot these days I know it will be something she will keep of mine once I 've kicked the traces.Lovely background scenery there too.Can't offer any thoughts on your bow other than I like it as I've never made an Osage self bow.

Roy, I've got plenty if you want one. Do want one of the old crusty ones, would go nicely with your persunality.

Ray thanks again for the wood, took me a while but am real happy with how it turned out. There's a bow in most wood if you just look hard enough and have patience.
