Good morning guys,
Gotta a question about tiller on a hill style longbow.
I had just started to shoot a bow that I had made awhile back. I am noticing that when I release, the lower limb tends to kick away and the upper limb moves towards my head.
Is this telling me that my lower limb is too strong and I need a reverse tiller. Currently the tiller is even.

Are both limbs bending evenly? At brace and when drawn?

Could also be the way you grip it.  Do you have other Hill style bows that you shoot, but don't experience this upon release?

No, this is the only bow that I have. Actually this is the only longbow that I had ever shot, I think that is why I am not sure of the issue that I am having.

If its a tillering problem, pics would help.

My guess is that it's because you're using a very light almost target style hold on the bow. and Longbows being lighter than compounds and usually not having stabilizers will tip back when fired because the arrow is above your hold point.

When the arrow pushes back against the string, and your hand pushes forward on the bow, it tips back slightly becasue the arrow is above the hand.
