Osage Pyramid - Gull Wing
«

I am working on an osage pyramid bow that has a natural bend at the handle giving a bit of a gull wing shape. I've never made one like this and it is a bit different to look at. I just got it to low brace last night (pics) and am happy at the first brace tiller, obviously there is work to be done but usually when i first brace the limbs are way off from each other. So i think i am seeing the stiff spots pretty clear but suggestions are welcome, i'll post pics of the progress, thanks guys.

Have you pulled it any farther. Brace looks pretty good but until you get it out a few more inches it is hard to tell.

I would have made the first brace at about 3", looks pretty hingy to me at that high brace height.

Maybe its just the picture distortion, but the brace hight looks high, as Eric pointed out. The outer thirds look stiff as well.

It is distorted bad. I'll try to repost the picture for you. Hopefully its right. Looks pretty good. Maybe get the fade on the right bending just a little bit more.

That's much better, I don't see a hinge anymore.

I would get my heat gun out and take the deflex out of the handle.

How's it look so far?
Eric, the gizmo should theoretically work the same way regardless if there is any character in the bow right? Just might be a bit harder to handle with more character?

Looks like you could get some more bend coming out of the fades.

Im no expert but I think you could work on the left fade and it would bend better in my thinking

I think I agree with doing some work on the left fade. Careful with the right one - that handle makes it tricky!

Update. Right now it is 40 lbs at 27". I was aiming for 45 at 28. I will have to pike it to get that since there is a little tweaking to do yet. What do you think? The right limb is the top limb. thanks.

Looks to me that the right limb is just a tad stiff between the third tile... but wait for others to chim in before doing anything.

Here is the finished bow 66" tip to tip. 45# @ 27". Didn't have a picture taker and needed to get it in the mail, so no full draw pic in its finished form.
