Laminate bow specs
« on: June 28, 2013, 08:48:00 AM »
Hey all, I am researching doing my first glass lam bow and have decided I would like to mimic "The Stick" by Martin. Everything I am finding for specs, as far as lam width, thickness, taper etc., all relate to a wider bow.

How/where could I get information about a narrow bow such as The Stick?

Bear in mind I am about the farthest thing from a math head as you can get (I sometimes struggle with a tape measure)so formulas would sadly be wasted on me. I was hoping for some charts perhaps?

Easiest thing to do is get a Martin Stick and measure all the info you need.  You can also trace the profile to make your form.

True, and I likely will sneak in to Bass Pro and do just that, but was hoping for info on what lam thickness and taper would do on the draw weight.

I have emailed him. Thanks for the direction. And he is only a couple hours from me, would make a good bike ride up to get my stuff.

If I remember correctly that is a straight LB. Get a $14 digital micrometer from harbor freight or the like. Take it to the store and measure length and thickness at the fades, mid limb, and just before the nock overlays. Let us know the measurements and we can tell you what you will need. Should be an easy build.
