Which side do I remove wood?
« on: July 17, 2013, 02:00:00 AM »
I got the BBI I'm working on to brace this evening, but noticed the string is about a quarter inch off center at the handle. So the question is do I...

a) remove wood from the side the string is leaning

b) remove wood from the side away from the string

c) play with the nocks

d) other

Thanks!
Mike

It leans to the weak side as you see it from the drivers seat. Remove wood from the strong side. Double check the shoulders on your nock end and be sure they are evened up closely.

Like Pearl drums says, the string moves towards the weak side, so remove wood from the opposite side. Photo below works for all bows.

I usually do a test wood removal on leaning limbs. If a dozen or so scrapes on the strong side doesn't move the limb over I correct the problem with my heat gun. I use urac for my glue-ups so applying heat to the limb is not a problem.

If you used one of the tight bond glues heat application wouldn't be a good idea.

Deepen the string groove on the left side looking at the bow in the picture and or remove wood from the right side of the limb.
