Absent Bowyer
« on: October 09, 2013, 09:45:00 PM »
So I haven't posted in forever.  I've been unemployed since May and have spent most of my time working odd jobs and looking for permanent work so there hasn't been much time spent in the garage.  Maybe that might have been a lack of enthusiasm but who knows but if it tells you anything I haven't even sat in a tree stand yet.

Well I now have found a job and it's taking my family and me up north to Kansas City, MO.  So here's me looking for any bow building friends south of the river in KC to get me excited about bending wood once again.  If you're near I'm up for a drive to share the affliction of scraping that yellow wood... of course after deer season  :)

PS. Here's my son with some road kill my neighbor brought me yesterday.

He made my mouth like a sharpened sword, in the shadow of his hand he hid me; he made me into a polished arrow, and concealed me in his quiver. Isaiah 49:2

Here's a link to a group that gets together once a week in the West Bottoms area of KCMO to shoot and make shavings.  I've never attended but hear it's a good time.

Best of luck to you and your family Goose.  I figure you'll find some trad guys to play with in MO.  Lots of good rock up that way to play with too.

Hey Goose, welcome to the area. As you have commented on the other thread, I'm learning how to build my first bow, and am looking to make a few board bows to get my feet wet. Looking forward to having you in the area! Again, welcome and congrats on the new job!!!

Sorry to hear about the lose of the JOB but I am glad to hear you are moving a bit closer. Heck I might even let you shot My bow a bit.

Thanks for the info y'all.  I'll be at the state line Chick-fil-a 5 days a week if you're interested in chicken sandwiches and 2 days a week in the woods.

Jon: Thanks for the link!

Raf: Not sure where I'll end up but perhaps we will cross paths.

Kelly: I'm hoping to move to the KS side when my son gets old enough for school because the KS schools are accredited.  I'm always down for a bunny stomp and I might have already shot the bow you speak of haha
