what happened here??

does anyone know what happened and why, more important how to not do it? will it be safe to shoot, seems like the Lam split during glue up.
these are action wood lams, .030 thick, two looked perfect, one had one place like this, and then there was this one.

Wow, that's weird.  I'd imagine you'll be okay so long as there was enough epoxy to fill those gaps.  Definitely be careful stringing and shooting it for awhile until you're sure it's okay.  Did you use too much pressure in your hose?  I go up to 70-75 psi and regularly use .024 veneers and have never had that happen.

Almost looks like the hydraulic pressure of the glue trying to escape spread it apart.

Is it full of glue? Or just a void?

 I had an osage lam do that on both limbs. Suspected it was checked and didn't know it . Shot a bunch and still workin...

I use 60# on my hose, it is filled with glue, it could have been the glue trying to escape, my last glue up left me with a couple of air bubbles, so I made sure everything was, and stayed warm, may have overcompensated with to much glue?
I have strung it and pulled to 28" with no problem,, tillerd before I removed the tape.

What happened: Lam split
Why did it happen?: Existing crack, too much hydraulic pressure, too much space between top and bottom form and/or no hard pressure strip creating a high pressure point on the limb.

How to not do it: Address those issues and air up about 10psi/5min. Give that glue time to move before you create the hydraulic effect,

thanks, I do use a pressure strip, and have glued several bows in the form so I do not suspect it was to much space. but I like the idea of airing to 10 PSI and letting glue escape, I have not been doing that,but will in the future.

Yeah if those are full of glue it will most likely be ok. Not sayin this would have made a difference but putting the air in a little at a time and giving the glue time to oozs.
Guess I should read all the post before I post. I think Two Tracks nailed it.
