Sycamore for riser?
« on: February 21, 2014, 06:44:00 AM »
Never used sycamore before. Does anyone know if it would be strong enough for a riser in a 'glass bow?

Sycamore is similar to maple in most of its physical properties, I've used it in other wood working projects cause its inexpensive and stains nicely, but it has an interlocking grain that can be difficult to work with and can have a nasty habit of twisting. I would personally only use it as an accent with more stable woods, not for the entire riser.
