Riser question
« on: March 21, 2014, 06:46:00 PM »
I am in the process of building my 3rd longbow. I would like to use something different wood for the riser. As long as the wood is a hard wood, is there any other considerations that I need to know about?
Thanks,
Z

I'm no expert....but a few things to consider are the types of hardwood. Some woods are oily and require special cleaning.(bocote) Some wood really suck up the glue and require special attention in this way. (walnut) One thing to consider is laminating the riser woods to make a stronger, more secure finished product.

I have built riser from almost every conceivable combinations of woods there is. Don't over think the process, go for it and enjoy your creation.
