I,m a little tired of makeingbamboo backed osage bows and would like to try a couple of glass bowI want to make a r. f.  62"  what would my glass be  I would like it to be clear on the belly and back  over a venners  what would my tappers be and my par. .ooo  thanks BUCK

What profile?

What type of wood for the lams?

What length of riser?

I recommend using binghams charts as a jumping off point, and fiddling with it from there. I like heavy tapers with powerlams and tip wedges on pronounced r/d designs.  Gives it a nice arc so you don't get that thing were all the bend is coming off the fades with straight outer 1/3's of the limbs.

I would suggest you build one of the designs that are already proven for example Kennys r/d is a great shooter and binghams projects have a r/d design.  If you follow one of those designs you have a very good chance of hitting your intended draw weight.  If you create and build your own design you will have to SWAG on the first and correct on the second as far as weight goes. Most likely but, every once in awhile we get lucky and get exactly what we want with the first one.

Listen to Jess.  I just spend several months and a couple hundred dollars on materials for three tries to "hit the mark" on an exotic Scythian recurve shape bow that I lusted after but could not buy anywhere. (see That's Not A Recurve...THIS Is A Recurve)

Choose a proven design and go with it, no biggie if it fails. Don't try to build the ultimate bow on your first attempt, get yourself a good shooter and go from there. Black/Brn glass Maple core, simple riser, then you can ramp up your bow building. Glass bows are simple and fun to build, enjoy the process and grow with each build.

It seems that even in the short time that KennyM has been out of the business, I've heard a few people still wanting the form template.

I had actually been thinking of getting his 58" R/D form to adapt for wood laminates just before he stopped taking orders.
