Bingham T/D pronounced longbow

Ok, so I've ordered the instructions and blueprints for the T/D pronounced longbow. The net said the same form could be used for bows from 58" to 68". However, the instruction booklet (printed pages stappled together at the corner) provides no details.

Their draw weight guide only lists stack thickness for the 68" bow. If you order a limb kit you also get the option of a 15" riser instead of the 17" riser. However, again no details cintained in the instructions.

So if some of you are using this blueprint can you provide some guidance.

1) for a 62" bow with 17" riser what stack thickness would get me to #50 @ 28"?

2) when shortening the limbs do I use the same limb blueprint and take the extra length off of the butt end with no other changes?

3) do I need to move tge index pin on the form?

You move the index pin forward to shorten limbs.  I drill index hole on 1 inch intervals.  I also shorten riser to 15 or 16".  Getting the right weight when you are changing the variables is a learning process.  ther are many ways to take weight off the limbs.  Going down to 62" I would probably use the 40# stack for the 68" limbs but this is just a guess.

How does the bow feel with a 15" riser? Kinda thinking the shorter riser would look better. Would you recommend the #40 stack for a 62" bow with 15" riser, too?

I did email bingham and gave the opinion the T/D recurve instructions / blueprints / information was clearer / better. Seemed like the T/D longbow information was missing alot of the help / clarity.

15" riser will allow more working limb.  62" is a long way down from 68" so I would think 40# stack would be enough.  But again just an educated guess.

Bingamans has a bow weight chart on their site.Its a down load and you can find it on the upper left column on the home page.It shows all the stacks for all their bows and all of the weights and lengths.
   I tried to copy to this post but I ain't smart enough and couldn't do it.Hope this is what your looking for and that it helps.

Bingham's website / bow weight stack cart only shows the 68" t/d longbows, not the shorter versions, I have emailed them and just waiting for a response

Got a response and was advised to call.  So I did; very helpful.

Here is what I was told:

removing 2 inches of limb length = 7 pounds of increased weight

removing 2 inches from riser (15" option) should not affect draw weight a markable different. So don't really get hung up on the riser length, just make sure you are using the correct limb length for the overall length you want.

So for my #50 bow at 62 ntn:

17" riser take three inches off of the limbs and limb stack for a #30 bow.  Move index pin 3 inches and take 3 inches of limb template at butt.  Was also advised when dropping below #35 0.002 general equals 1 pound instead of the 0.003 as normal.

for

15" riser take two inches off of the limbs and use limb stack for a #35 bow.  Move index pin 2 inches and take 2 inches off of the limb template at the butt end.  Limb pad angle remains the same between the 17 and 15" risers.

what is the index pin? and what does it do? any pics. thanks Burt

The index pin is just a 1/4 metal pin in the bottom half of the form. It's used to hold / lineup the butt end of the limb during lamination process.
