Shoulda quit while ahead
« on: June 01, 2014, 05:18:00 PM »
It was late last night when I decided would complete just one more step in build of 1st pyramid bow . . . using 4est trekker's great 2009 build along.

Wellll, I don't know if it was tiredness or the 3 beers that immediately preceeded my fateful decision, but I managed to glue the riser 1/8" off center from tips.  Bow is 66" oal.

Question from this newbie is, should I ignore the small error, or even up limb lengths by shortening what's now the long limb, or do sumpin else?

Please chime in if you're in position to know.

Stay safe,
Michael

if you haven't carved your nocks, you could just remeasure using the riser as center. will also probably work it's way out anyways when you tiller.

You will be fine...just adjust your center. In truth, you will probably be fine with the original center line. Lay it out and I think you'll see what I mean...can't explain why very clearly without a picture.

I wouldn't worry about it either.  Bet if I measured my finished bows, I'd be pleasantly surprised if the handle was within an 1/8" of center on any of 'em    :)
It's hard to make a wooden bow which isn't beautiful, even if it's ugly.

Thanks for confirming it's "no big deal, but . . . Never mind. Used tablesaw to nibble off what had become "long" end of riser. Good end to weekend!

4est trekker . . . check your pm, please.

What glue did you use?  If TB glue you can heat the handle to 150degs and the glue will release with a little help from you.
