Looking For Rubber Bow Grip Material
« on: June 25, 2014, 05:07:00 PM »
Does anyone know of a source for elastomeric (rubber-like) material that would make a suitable bow grip. In particular, I need a tube that can be stretched over the bow riser end and slid up to the handle section.

Thanks,
Charles

Suregrip. I'm sure 3 Rivers has it. The riser has to be pretty slim though.  I'd send you the one I had, but I just cut it up to put under my TD limbs to quiet a creak!

Try a bike inner tube..not as fancy, but they work and it doesn't look too bad at all. Just wet everything down with water prior to the riser slide.

It's hard to get one on a self bow handle.
I think they have a wrap around one.

Bike tube, 20" tire size. There will be a little seam line but it wears out quickly. Cheap and effective.

Hi there.  Slightly different, but as a cyclist, I started using bicycle handlebar tape for my grips. You can get it in just about any color, some have adhesive backings, and provides a good grip even when wet or when your hands are wet. One pack is about $14 and is enough for about 4-6 bows depending on riser thickness. With a nice under wrap at the end with a dab of something like duco holds it in place.

I also use tennis racquet grip wrap on my homemade hunting recurves. I buy about 6 a year because I have friends who ask me to put one on their bows just before hunting season.. I have used the rubber Suregrips from Black Widow on PSA risers they are a snug fit, I'm not 100% sure but I think the Suregrips from BW are larger than the 3Rivers ones??. I have also used the leather "bow saddle" from 3Rivers,it looked nice on the BW PSAX (Kingwood) I used to own.
