Two hickory backed recurves
« on: July 06, 2014, 08:12:00 PM »
Here are the finished pics of the recurves I've been working on.  Both are hickory backed with osage belly and an elm core lam.  On the top one (curly maple handle), the elm lam is full length.  Bottom one (walnut handle), I made the core lam 46" and tapered it to zero.
They're both around 63" NTN and 45# @ 27".  One is a little shorter and a few pounds heavier DW.  I forget which one.   :)
I made the maple handled one first and liked it so much that I decided to try another one.  Thanks for looking!

I don't have a current f/d shot of them.  Still working on that with my daughter/photographer.  Hopefully by next weekend.
Here's one at final tiller on the first one.

And the second one.  I did more scraping on a stubborn area on the top limb since then.

Those looks great!  Good job.  Yeah, I would've made another one, too.
