My new hunting bow
« on: August 02, 2014, 09:15:00 PM »
Had some spare time and a few scraps so I built myself a new hunting bow for this year.  It's 54" and 52@26.  Cocobolo/pac. yew riser and pac yew veneers.

Those colors are great! I like the lines too
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.

That is a great looking bow!
What taper rate are you putting into these shorties and are you having to use a tip wedge?
Thanks and I really like this wood combo!

I use a .003 taper on it which works fine but curiosity got the best of me with this one and I had to experiment since I had some to use. I put a power lam in it so I figured I would probly need the tip wedge too just in case it stacked too soon which it would've without the tip wedge so I'm glad I decided to put it in. Without the p-lam and tip wedge it will draw smooth out to 28" but with them in it starts stacking about 26.5-27 which is fine for me...

That's a beauty!  Love the color on that coco, looks more brown than red, like a high end rosewood. Nice work!

Even if I knew what spare time is and had spare material laying around, I doubt I could make such a fine looking bow.

Very nice.
Skeater who?
