restoring an old hill

I have an old tembo that's split at the bamboo,
I would like to save the glass and riser and
have somebody (or me) do the glue up with new
bamboo so its a shooting, functional bow . Is
there any tricks in separating the glass without
damaging it ?

I'd take some super glue and glue and clamp the bamboo back together and then make the bow a wall-hanger/conversation piece.  Then send some pics and measurements of it to Craig Ekin and tell him to reproduce a new one just like it.  I just wouldn't trust a bow that has been basically torn apart and put back together.

I don't think you can save the glass, and I wouldn't trust it if you could. You can save the riser and use it in a new bow, but that's not easy to keep perfectly positioned during glueup once it's been shaped.

I think John's idea is a good one. Have a copy made instead.

I have re-limbed a lot of bows, replaced the core and glass using the old riser. It is not that hard to do if you are already set-up and building glass bows. As for the glass I have only re-used glass that was removed to build a kids bow to give away and then only a few times. Glass is not that expensive.

I would like to save the glass as it would make the bow more original. The serial number on
the bow is 66. The white belly glass is nicely
yellowed and has the original lettering.
