Delta x-5 vs Grizzly Baby Drum
« on: October 13, 2014, 08:21:00 PM »
Ok, guys. I am starting my first bow build. I am looking at buying a drum sander. Does anyone have experience with the delta sander? I have found one close to home for less than half the price of the grizzly. Sander is in good shape. What I read on Amazon, neither sander has really good reviews. Just thought I would get your opinions. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have the grizzly now for 7-8 years. Cant tell you how many feet of wood has been thru it. Replaced one feed belt motor. would buy another. Would like to get another one to have two grits ready at all times.

Thanks guys for the input.  I'm leaning more towards the delta just because of price.  I think it will be something to start with.

Man just jumpin right in, lol. I can't speak for the delta but the grizzly has worked for me flawlessly. The grizz will pay for itself twice as fast as the delta. But then if the budget allows get the best equipment you can.

Good luck and welcome to the addiction.

Most of the bad reviews for the grizz come from the belt feed motor gear stripping (they used nylon for the gear).  They fixed that issue a while back, for the money (new), hard to beat the grizz. Never tried the delta.

never tried the grizzley before either- and everyone on here seems to use them- so they gotta be ok.
i got the delta cos it was a mile down the road- and has worked perfectly for me-and i do a bunch of stuff thru it besides lams- so i think either will be just fine
