Carbon Foam Core
« on: January 14, 2015, 11:24:00 PM »
Hey guys,
I am sure this has been a topic before here but was wondering if there was any advantage to the carbon foam core or not. I want to make a different looking bow and have some awesome lams I am getting. I want to use something close to the color of the splatted myrtle lams and any bamboo will not be the same color.

I'd also like to see if I can add a little pzazz to my natural bamboo cores by adding a layer of glass in the middle. I have seen it done before but don't know where to get it or what it is called.

Can someone way in on this... Thanks

carbon as a core material is nothing but an expensive racing stripe.  If your wanting color as a core the use the core tuff glass as a core material.  I grind mine down to .020 and put in between two Aboo tapers.   carbon on the back will add to the performance of the bow.  Ive used foam 6-7 times but never with carbon.  carbon and foam cores are next on my bench to get glued. when I can find the time I'll glue it.   I will say this foam has a different sound to it bare bow compared to a wood cored bow.  more of a swoosh sound than a twangy sound.  I like both foam and boo.   I did see some performance increase with foam so I just added weight to my arrow and stayed at 180 fps with a 700 grain arrow out of a 55 pound bow.

scroll down and you'll see dale stahl he sells everything.  shoot him an email as my price sheet is from last year and ours could be different because of buying in bulk.
