Gonna build a tree, but first a question
« on: March 19, 2015, 09:33:00 PM »
So I would like to build a tillering tree, just wanna make sure I'm on the right track/understand what you guys have done with yours.
My understand is: once you have made the shelf your riser will sit on/fit into you then determine center of the bow. Now measure up for your shelf (wherever you like it at 1", 1-1/8" or 1-1/4"). Once you have your shelf then measure up 3/8" for your knocking point. Now measure back 1/4 for the knock and another 3/8 for split finger and make your line up and down the tree. Then you can measure back an additional 1/2-3/4" for three under and make your line up and down the tree. Am I right so far?
At the bottom of the tree you'll place your pulley so that you can either put it inline with split or three under depending on what your tillering for?
Once your tree is done you'll pick your pulley point then hook the string in the right location so when bow is braced you'll have a straight line with your tillering rope and the line on your tree, then draw the bow and watch what side your line drifts towards to determine the weak and strong limbs?

Sounds good to me. I just followed a very similar process a few weeks ago.
Plant a fruit or nut tree today, and have good hunting tomorrow.
