Best finish for leopardwood?
« on: March 29, 2015, 07:50:00 PM »
I have six arrow shafts in leopardwood ordered, as well as part of the outside of the quiver I've been slogging away on.  I'm really unsure how to finish it-I've used Danish oil in the past, but I didn't get the awesome finish that others have gotten.  I've been considering shellac, but I'm unsure how that will hold up hunting.

I know I can just throw Polycrylic at it, but is there a more natural finish that I can use that will make the grain pop?  You guys have worked with it more than me.  I can get great finishes on some woods, but I've never thought I got this one as good as some of the pictures I've seen.  Anyone got any thoughts?

Have you tried TRU Oil? It does a great job on walnut and it's fairly weather proof.
