you can "trap the back" and that will drop quite a few pounds. if you are not sure about that, i can explain it a bit, or there are a lot of threads on here about it- or better still... just build another bow- cant have too many bows   :D  
do you have a stack recipe for a lighter weight bow.
swissbow had a good one- where you punch in your current stack and weight, and it will give you the other stacks needed to get different weights.
yer right the bloodwood tips really do show up well. a bow to be proud of mate!
and more than good enough to take part in the swap . and whats great about this site- its not the quality of the bows, its the act of giving and receiving that has been emphasized.
i would be proud to have a bow like yours in my rack!!

What's trapping the back?

I used Bingham stack calculator.  I think it ended up heavier since I used a piece of core tuff in my stack. But I'm not worried.  I just got some free yew and some awesome 8/4 wenge. Next bow is going to be a little fancier in the riser

so trapping the back is where you try to reduce weight in a glass bow( or help to stop the back, overpowering the belly on a wood bow- but dont worry about that for now)
so...the sides are sanded but the belly glass is not touched, but the sides are angled up towards the back glass- so at the end of the day the back is narrower than the belly.
this will reduce weight, while still maintaining the stability of the bows width.
it needs to be done as a tillering process, as you are now removing material, and if done carefully - no problem- but if rough shod- it can throw your bow outta whack- the word "trapping" comes from the word "trapezoid" where if you cut thru the limb the cross section would be a trapezoid shape.

so it needs to have a different rate of trapping as the bows width changes- but it would be best to chat to some guys who have done it a lot on glass bows- to really add their input- swissbow, canapyboy, bowjunkie- just a few that quickly come to mind- but i know a lot more out there than that have done it regularly .

one other thing , i struggled for years trying to get a handle on shooting properly( some may say, that i am still struggling    ) but when i started to get some good help and advice from good shooters, was when it all changed for me.some things are just a lot easier if you are shown and taught- no bad habits etc .
check out Rick Welch- read up a heap on him- good advice there- also good advice here with Terrys shooting clock, and also on the "shooting form" sub forum.

I Googled the stack calculator but couldn't find the Swiss bows one.  Do you have the ulr?  Ya I've heard that about binghams stack before.  That's crazy about tillering the back though. I don't think I'll try doing that yet. I don't want to mess this one up.

Very Nice bow. Remember all bows build are worth posting. The failures and successes. I learn from each one posted something and the guys here give good advice and especially if it failed, the positive critique helps a lot for the next bow
